10-Second Battery Swap: GoCiklo Shifts Electric Moped Game

Swap the battery within 10 seconds instead of waiting while charging. Battery swap is a clear trend in Asia, now coming to Europe. First out is Gothenburg in Sweden, as GoCiklo introduces the Go-Swap-Go concept. And in autumn, Stockholm will be next.

Swap the battery in 10 seconds and go

GoCiklo offers electric mopeds without the need to charge; a swap of batteries at a swap station makes the moped's battery full in 10 seconds. GoCiklo is now establishing infrastructure with stations in Gothenburg and Stockholm as the first cities in Europe. With a Go-Swap-Go subscription, the customer gets an electric moped with access to battery swapping at swap stations across the city.

Battery Swap is already big in Asia

Taiwan, one of the world's most moped and motorcycle-dense countries, has over 7,000 swap stations. Today, 90% of all electric mopeds are sold without a battery; instead, the driver subscribes to a battery with replacement at swap stations. This concept significantly lowers the purchase cost of the moped as the battery constitutes a significant part of the cost of an electric vehicle. The battery swap trend is also on the rise in India and China.  A technology that is already becoming a part of Europe".

An important step to cleaner and quieter cities

The number of electric vehicles needs to increase rapidly to make cities climate-neutral, healthier, and quieter. Almost all deliveries in Europe are made with vehicles that run on fossil fuels. For example, a moped used for deliveries emits about 2 tons of CO2 annually. However, the transition is not happening fast enough, as it is more expensive to buy an electric vehicle, charging is slow and inconvenient, and the limited driving range can present problems, especially when used for professional deliveries.

Go-Swap-Go enables the shift to electric

In the first step, GoCiklo addresses delivery companies and companies where employees need a vehicle for their work. These companies have been unable to shift due to the high cost of purchasing electric vehicles and loss of productivity due to the waiting while charging and the limited driving range.

Mattias Tingvall, CEO GoCiklo

“Our Go-Swap-Go offer enables companies to shift to electric. No increased purchasing costs and no loss of productivity. The fact that all of our mopeds in our first batch for Gothenburg and Stockholm are already sold out even before the launches proves that this is truly needed”, says Mattias Tingvall, CEO of GoCiklo.
